“Many doubt the justice of our country, and with good reason. Black people see the repeated violation of their rights without an urgent and adequate response from American institutions.”
George W. Bush, June 2, 2020

The systemic racism in our country is on view today, in the midst of health and economic crises. Violence is not the answer, but all Americans must listen to the voices raised in protest and take action. Rotary has served the needs
of San Franciscans for more than 100 years, and we intend to learn from the sadness of the current American turmoil and be more attentive to the citizens need for equity.

As Rotarians and San Franciscans, we support peaceful protest against injustice and the long history of inequality in America. While not a political organization, Rotary will continue to serve the community and to strengthen the ties that bind us together as human beings. Rotarians live by a code called the Four-Way Test. Of the things we think, say or do:
  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
