In accordance with our Club Bylaws, I am pleased to announce that the following are scheduled to be inducted into our Club as our newest members on November 9, 2021:
Rachel Donovan (Engineering: Civil | California Department of Transportation)
Jefferson Li-Kuo Yih (Student and Musician).
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about these proposed new members.
A cornerstone of the Action Leadership Program with Students (ALPS) is multigenerational relationships, and this group of participants really showed us what that is all about! By fostering a collaborative and positive group environment, ALPS students were able to execute their vision of bringing generations together through connection and song.
Over the past few months, a group of five students gathered together to explore ways to show the seniors and older adults in their neighborhood that they are seen, valued and important members of our community, but especially that they are not alone. The students decided to show the seniors how much they cared through connecting in a way that was very personal and meaningful to them: song!
The Board met on September 28, 2021 with enough Board members in attendance to achieve quorum. The first Board meeting was that of the Rotary Club of San Francisco.
Treasurer Gary Dales reviewed the August 2021 financial statements. While he did not have any immediate concerns, our attendance at in-person meetings had been lighter than budgeted. In addition, many members still have not paid their annual dues. It was suggested that members be reminded to pay their dues invoice.
On October 28, 2021, Club members and their families joined in a virtual game of Halloween-themed, musical bingo. Our Halloween costume winners were brothers JT and Daryn Borland-Wong, sisters Leyna and Emmy Blair, and sisters Leia and Mae Forbus. Our bingo winners were Casey Blair, Mary Liu, and Stacey Poole. It was a spooktacular event enjoyed by all!
We hope to see you at our next Club social on December 4th.
Lena Dokuchayeva, a former member of our Club from 2006-2021, moved away. She recently contacted us to share some good news. Lena and her husband, Bryan Vereschagin, became the proud parents of Brielle Judy Vereschagin born on August 4, 2021. We wish Lena and her family the best!
Drivers needed to pick up pre-packaged meals at The Arc San Francisco and deliver to individual residences of Arc participants who are experiencing food insecurity. Few would disagree that the world today, perhaps more than ever, needs more humanity. Jenny Kit Ching Campbell will be sharing with us a simple, yet powerful, way to speak our truth with integrity while connecting deeply. This, combined with a means of understanding the source of other perspectives, can be the key to a more humane society.
Join us on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6 PM to 8 PM to learn how to support your business and mingle with other professionals in the community. The evening includes snacks and beverages. Advanced registration required.
President Mary Liu hosts “Coffee and Conversation” to provide an opportunity to meet new members and provide a forum for all members to learn more about how to get involved in various Club activities and events.
Carly Devlin, MSW discusses the history, mission, and services of HART at Huckleberry Youth Programs and how it has impacted youth who have been sexually exploited in our community. Join us for this insightful meeting on how we can learn more about helping those who have been trafficked or sexually exploited.

Join us as we spend time with each other reflecting on events, projects, or people that have made us thankful during such an extraordinary year. Bring your thanks and cheerfulness to this special meeting.
We live in a community in need this holiday, and here is one way we can safely make a difference and help The Arc San Francisco participants. The Rotary Club of San Francisco will deliver a meal to The Arc SF participants in need and food insecure this Thanksgiving. We’ll need volunteers to help package the meals on Monday, November 22, 2021 in the late afternoon and evening or deliver meals to participants in the Bay Area on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in the morning. This is the only Thanksgiving celebration for many of the people we serve that day. And they are most appreciative.
We are not meeting on November 23, 2021; our next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 starting at 12 noon. We wish you continued good health and peace as you gather with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving 2021.
