This issue of Grindings is the first one for the new Rotary year of 2021-2022. This year's Rotary International theme is "Serve to Change Lives". A new year brings a new start, hope, and opportunity. Please meet your new president - Mary Liu and the Club's new Board here. Join a committee, read Grindings, and check www.sfrotary.com often to find events and future meetings and register.
 
In the meantime, happy 4th of July! We have lots to celebrate, and it is wonderful to be able to celebrate in person again.

 May 2021 Board Highlights
ROTARY CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO
President JT Forbus called the Board meeting via Zoom to order at 4:02 p.m. The entire Board was present. Also in attendance were Lisa Christian, Christopher Eggers, Miranti Ojong, Nancy Graydon, Dan Joraanstad representing the San Francisco Rotary Foundation, and Past President Rhonda Poppen.
 
Dora, Secretary, recorded the minutes.
 
CLUB ADMINISTRATION
Treasurer’s Report: Gary discussed the highlights of the balance sheet and the statement of operations as of April 30, 2021 and for the ten months then ended. The Board approved the Treasurer's Report.

In honor of the Independence Day holiday weekend, there is no Rotary Luncheon on July 6, 2021. Our first meeting for the Rotary year 2021-2022 will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

ROTARY CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK  July 15, 2021:  Irene Yang and Julie Gaudin: Fossil Fuel Economics and the Climate Crisis
Irene YangJulie GaudinOur environment is heating up! We see it all around us, no matter where we live. Efforts to mitigate and adapt are not moving fast enough to address this crisis. This special Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) presentation is intended to engage the RCAT Network in advocating for national climate legislation. Advanced registration required. ROTARY LUNCHEON July 20, 2021: Dr. Todd "Bowtie" Jenkins; Moving from Diversity to Inclusion
A top priority for Rotary is growing and diversifying its membership to make sure it reflects the communities it serves. Dr. Todd “Bowtie” Jenkins will discuss Rotary's plan to align Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion assessment, strategy, goals, and initiatives.
