During the COVID-19 crisis, The Salvation Army is distributing approximately 650 fresh meals Mondays to Saturdays to over 40 homeless encampments across San Francisco as part of MealsInPlaceSF. We urgently need volunteers to accompany Officers and Staff as we distribute meals.

Each day, multiple teams are assigned locations for distribution, led by Salvation Army Officers and supported by staff members. Volunteers are assigned to a team (1-2 per team) on arrival at the loading area (South of Market). Masks and gloves are provided, along with clothing to identify volunteers as being with The Salvation Army. All possible efforts are being taken to ensure social distancing is maintained both among team members (except during transportation) and clients.

To volunteer, go here to create an account and apply for the date and job listed. The immediate need for help is now through the end of May 2020. After registration, you will be sent more detailed information about what you will be doing during your shift. Participants must be at least 18 years old and healthy. Sex offender searches will be conducted on all volunteers.
