In today's audience were Emily DiLaura, Jamie Miller, Erma Kurtovic, Lance Scott, and Arturo Guillen. Lance and Arturo are from The Arc San Francisco. Also present was today's speaker, Frank Schulenburg.
 
New Meeting Place
Progress is being made on locating a new meeting place for our Club. Stay tuned!

Past President Casey led a discussion on the chat. The topic was how you responded while viewing something dramatic. Past President Casey shared his experience while viewing the eruption of Mt. San Helens.
 
Nancy GraydonRed Badge Graduation
The audience celebrated Nancy Graydon's (Development | Glaucoma Research Foundation) completion of her Red Badge requirements and graduation into full membership. Congratulations, Nancy!

Past President Tim Hornbecker (Nonprofit Management | Retired, The Arc CA) read the Quote of the Day on the the best thing in life - the enjoyment of friendships by Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary.
 
District Conference 2021
Anita Stangl (Medical Services | Alliance for Smiles) reported on the highlights of the District 5150 Conference held on May 15, 2021 and acknowledged those members of our Club who helped to put on this Conference.
 
End Polio NowAmazing Race to End Polio
David Dye (Management Consulting | Retired) spoke about the District 5150 World Polio Day event scheduled for October 24, 2021. In addition to raising awareness and supporting Rotary International's efforts to eradicate polio, it will involve fun activities.
 
The event will be held in San Francisco and borrow elements from the "Amazing Race". Teams who register for the event will be challenged to go to different locations and solve clues or do some activity. The event will culminate at the Cannery in Fisherman's Wharf for an opportunity to gather and share lunch. 
 
David is asking for members of the Rotary Club of San Francisco to help be part of the Planning Committee for this event. Job opportunities include securing sponsors, helping with PR, managing registration, helping set up the routes and activities, and many other functions. Please contact David for more information.
 
Frank SchulenburgToday's Speaker
Andrés Vera (Entertainment | Self-Employed) introduced today's speaker, Frank Schulenburg. Frank is a Wikipedian and Executive Director of Wiki Education. He shared how Wikipedia’s contributors ensure the free encyclopedia’s quality and how Wiki Education systematically works to make Wikipedia a platform that represents the knowledge of all people. Past President Casey thanked Frank and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in his name.
