In today's audience were Kevin Davidson, Eoin Garcia, Abdul Hadi (Rotarian), Joe Lamberson, Jeff Lerner, Patrick Marks, Jean Petro, Karen Sommerich, Andres Vera, and today's speaker, Gary Kamiya.
 
What is Rotary?
President-Elect Mary showed a video on what people thought Rotary was. She then invited the audience to post on the chat their thoughts on this topic.
 
Lowell Interact Club
John Dean (Education: Law | Dean Dispute Resolution) talked about his role as Advisor to this Interact Club and the challenges caused by the pandemic. He introduced Eoin Garcia; Eoin is a senior at Lowell High School and the current president of the Interact Club there. Eoin shared with our Club the alternative activities he and his fellow Interactors have been able to do.
 
RYLA in a Box
RYLA goes virtual in 2021 and will consist of a 12-hour intensive leadership training program on April 16 and 17, 2021 for high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties. Susan Dean (Healthcare: Nursing Services | Retired) talked about delivering RYLA in a box and packing the boxes.
 
An Update on Family Feud
Terry Pickering (Financial Services | Retired) gave an update on the exciting events happening in preparation for the Family Feud contest between the men and the women of our Club on April 29.
 
How Our Club Will Meet After the Pandemic
President-Elect Mary put the audience into breakout rooms to discuss how our Club could meet post-pandemic. The choices were to meet only in person or to allow a hybrid meeting. The hybrid choice seemed to be the most selected choice.
 
Gary KamiyaToday's Speaker
Robin Azevedo (Retail: Mattresses | McRoskey Mattress Company) introduced today's speaker, Gary's Kamiya. Gary is an author, journalist, and historian. He took the audience on a tour of San Francisco sites covered in his books. President-Elect Mary thanked Gary and announced that 100 children would be inoculated against polio in his name.
