A group of volunteers from the Rotary Club of San Francisco partnered with Catholic Charities on Saturday, April 10. Working steadily from 9 to 11:30 AM, we formed three assembly stations to do the following: (1) organize non-perishable food supplies into kits, (2) organize hygiene items and socks into kits, and (3) combine the two kits into yellow backpacks and add to large boxes for distribution. Event organizer and Rotarian Carol Laughlin of Catholic Charities indicated that the items are in direct response to needs expressed by those who will receive the kits.

All in all, we assembled over 530 food and hygiene packs that will go primarily to families experiencing homelessness who come to Catholic Charities service access points. It was quite the assembly line process and a great opportunity to make a large impact in a short amount of time.
