We are proud and excited to honor Dora and David Dye at the annual ‘Fund the Future’ Gala and Silent Auction on April 1, 2022 for their constant leadership, support, and advocacy for ALPS and Rotary Youth Leadership programs. David and Dora Dye have been committed to youth leadership and development initiatives for almost a quarter of a century. David has enjoyed a rich journey with Boy Scouts of America, from his Eagle Scout honor as a 17-year-old-young man to parent volunteer, to in-school character-education program manager and employee. Dora is an incredible administrative asset to any organization with which she engages. She has volunteered as a summer camp counselor and merit badge counselor, served alongside David in each of these positions, and together they have positively impacted hundreds of young people through Scouts over the years.
This dynamic duo’s commitment to the next generation transitioned naturally from Scouts to Rotary Youth Services. David was a member of the Rotary Club of Los Altos until he joined the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 2005. Dora joined the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 2016. She served tirelessly behind the scenes and alongside David for many years prior.
To name a few, David has officially held roles such as Lowell High School Interact Club advisor, District 5150 Interact Co-chair, and chair of Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), and District 5150 Rotary Youth Services committee chair. He is currently an advisor for the Rotaract Club of USF, District 5150 Assistant Youth Protection Coordinator, and a member of the Zone 26/27 Rotary Youth Services Task Force.
Dora and David’s Rotary dedication extends beyond Youth Service. Dora has used her administrative mastery and ClubRunner prowess to the benefit of many, especially when setting up a Rotary event registration process. She has produced hundreds of weekly Club newsletters and has also served as the Rotary Club of San Francisco’s Club Secretary for two years. She is currently serving as the Club's newsletter editor, managing the Club's data, and serving as the District 5150 secretary. David has held board positions such as Youth Services Chair, Public Relations Chair and, perhaps what he considers one of the greatest honors, president of the Rotary Club of San Francisco in 2016-2017.
The ALPS program that we celebrate here tonight came about as leaders recognized the need for similarly intensive leadership experiences beyond the time that youth spent at RYLA. David has officially held these leadership positions, but to know Dora, is to realize that unofficially she was beside him every step of the way and together they were successful in these roles.
